Love

I remember watching a movie about a mormon missionary called to served on the pacific islands of Tonga. Before he sets off his family gathered round the train station to bid farewell to this Elder. Then a voice from the crowd shouted "speech". The voice was referring to the father who was about to cry when he said "I do not know anyone in Tonga well enough to love them and send them my son."... then there was a pause and then he said "But i guess God does."

This leads me to conclude one important principle about love. Knowledge preceeds love, which leads us to conclude that perhaps love at first sight is actually false because it does not qualify nor satisfy the condition that preceeds love. Let us call this kind of love as "genuine love" just for the matter of terminology. Let me give you one example of genuine love, God loves us because He knows each and everyone of us, our fears, our weaknesses, our strengths and our ideals.

And as much as the love of a parent to a child, because they knew their children very well from their infancy until they grew to maturity, is actually a genuine love.

i guess when i come looking for a wife, a companion for eternity then i guess i want it to be a true love, a genuine love.

I have a bestfriend, i came to her life just recently, around mid-February of 2007, yet little did she know that she is the girl that i admire ever since we were young. I'm actually her biggest fan. I have never seen a person so beautiful and intelligent as her. I came to know her in seminary class in our church. I guess she was not aware that i am admiring her at a distance. Sometimes i would chicken out just to talk to her.

That was seven years ago, and i wasted that seven years of choosing not to talk to her and befriend her. That was my regret and i had my second chance last February 2007. The wasted seven years deprived me of the opportunity to knowing more about her thus also prevented me of the chance to love her. As time would go my knowledge about her lessens until i cannot go back and return to that chance of knowing her.

But now that i am talking to her, befriending her and knowing more about her leads me to the possibility to be able to love her. I pray that i will not lose this second chance. I pray that this will lead to "genuine love".

truth reflects upon our senses!

I think we are now well launched on our study of the cosmos! Having been defined as to what is knowledge (which are realities that passes through our senses!). I now say that realities that passes through our senses will reveal to us certain "truths" that are processed by our spiritual senses, i.e. "the heart" and "the mind".

Pondering, Meditiation, Introspection and Knowledge

What does it really mean to be alive? "Cogito ergo sum" as Rene Descartes would say or in english, "I think therefore I am." The very fact that I know that I am here in the streets of mortality where my senses are gathering realities here in this earth it is only necessary that I should process it to something meaningful and that is where "pondering", "meditation" and "self-inspection" would come in.

What is knowledge? For me it is anything that passes through our senses. We "know" that something exists because our senses captures it. For example, we know what a table is because of the essence that makes a table a "table", that it has four legs, made of wood and other characteristics that makes a table a table. Such "essences" would pass through our senses and then our mind would process them and conclude or infer that the thing or reality that we perceive is really a table.

Sense experience is necessary for knowledge, ergo theories, paradigms and babblings would make no sense unless it is experienced, first hand. Only through our experience can we prove or disprove theories.

So where does meditiation, pondering or introspection would come in? You see the mind and the heart are also considered senses, these are the spiritual senses. While the physical are the sense of taste, smell, hear and sight. Meditation, pondering and introspection would be effective if both the spiritual and the physical senses are at work.

We are in search for knowledge. I'm sure everyone needs it, to answer life's greatest questions. It is my conclusion that we can only gain knowledge if we use our senses. Take care of those senses, the spiritual and the physical senses.
